Motherhood is a wonderful time! Unless you are one of the many women who suffers from sore, irritated nipples while breastfeeding.
At Compounding Solutions, we offer a solution! It’s called Newman’s Nipple Ointment and it has been just the thing that helps many women get through the early breastfeeding days.
Why do nipples get so sore in the first place?
Sore nipples may be a result from:
- Poor latching
- Yeast infections (thrush)
- Skin breaks of the nipple and areola (psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis)
- Bacterial infections
What is in Newman’s Nipple Ointment?
We use Mupirocin, Betamethasone Acetate and Miconazole to make the topical ointment. We also have a steroid-free formula.
How does Newman’s Nipple Ointment work?
- Mupirocin is an antibiotic that is effective against many bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus aureus which is often found growing in abrasions or cracks in the nipples.
- Betamethasone is a corticosteroid which decreases inflammation. A large part of the pain mothers experience when they have sore nipples is due to inflammation. The redness of the nipples and areolas is another sign of inflammation. By decreasing the inflammation, the ointment also decreases the pain the mother feels.
- Miconazole is an antifungal agent effective against Candida albicans.
How do I use it?
Apply the ointment sparingly to nipples and areola after each breastfeeding session. You do not need to wash it or wipe it off! Doing so is counterproductive.
Ok, I’m convinced this is what I need! How do I get it?
